ClassWallet EANS Success Story
$1.2 Billion Distributed Securely to Support
America's Non-Public Schools
How Digital Wallet Technology Supported the Nation's Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools (EANS) Program
From 2021-2025, these unprecedented funds were used to address COVID-related pandemic expenses to help address learning loss, improve education technology, and solve for a variety of other educational issues the pandemic created.
When the federal government allocated $5.5 billion through the Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools program to address COVID-19's devastating impact on education, the challenge wasn't just funding; it was distribution. How could agencies possibly distribute funding securely, efficiently and compliantly during a pandemic?
ClassWallet emerged as the solution that made it work for all stakeholders - including families, schools and other education service providers - fundamentally changing how emergency education funding reaches the classroom.
Unprecedented Scale, Measurable Results
"Did these purchases improve reading, math, physical health, mental health?"
97%
of respondents said these purchases improved reading, math, physical and / or mental health of students.
The Numbers Tell a Compelling Story
Since its creation in 2014, ClassWallet's platform has supported 37 states with the secure distribution of more than $6.5 billion in funding. This includes distributing $1.2 billion in EANS allocations for 12 states from 2021-2025 that transformed learning environments for thousands of non-public schools.
But the true measure of success goes beyond dollars distribute. It's in the outcomes achieved.
According to ClassWallet's comprehensive purchasing trends survey, an overwhelming 97% of respondents reported that their EANS purchases improved reading, math, physical health, or mental health outcomes for students. This isn't just statistical success; it represents real classrooms where students are thriving because resources arrived when and where they were needed most.

Technology Leading the Way
The Survey Data Reveals How Schools Prioritized Their Spending
Educational technology dominated, with 86% of schools investing in tools to assist students, educators, and staff with remote or hybrid learning. These weren't frivolous purchases - schools strategically deployed funds to close learning gaps that emerged during the pandemic.
One Florida educator captured this impact perfectly: "We updated technology to help students close the learning gaps due to COVID. Without a doubt, all of the technology we have gained through EANS funds have helped and will continue to help improve student achievement for many years to come."
Beyond technology, schools invested in redeveloping instructional plans (37%), education and support services (26%), sanitizing supplies (26%), air purification systems (19%), and materials for implementing public health protocols (18%). Each category addressed urgent pandemic-related needs while building long-term educational capacity.
