DECAL Classroom Grant FAQs

DECAL Classroom Grants, made possible by Governor Brian Kemp and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), are funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and are in addition to the $1,000 supplemental payment recently issued through the Providing Our Workforce Essential Recognition (POWER) Round 2 program. For child care programs, each teacher, assistant teacher, family child care learning home provider, or family child care learning home aide who was eligible to receive a POWER Round 2 payment will automatically receive this classroom grant. For Georgia’s Pre-K Programs, eligibility for Georgia’s Pre-K Lead and Assistant Teachers will be determined by the 4th Pre-K Roster data as of March 28, 2022. The grant funds can be accessed and must be spent through a vendor called ClassWallet. The funds, which must be spent by June 30, 2022, must be used for supplies and materials from DECAL approved vendors.

APPLICATION PROCESS

How can I apply for my Classroom Grant if I am eligible?

There is not an application process for the Grant. All child care program recipients who are in an eligible role and who are deemed POWER Round 2 eligible will automatically receive the grant. How will I know if I’m eligible?

All eligible recipients will receive two emails. The first email will come from Commissioner Amy Jacobs explaining the project and letting the recipient know they are eligible. The second email will come about a week later from DECAL’s vendor, ClassWallet, explaining how to access the funds.
